Pigeon Park Savings Mural Unveiling & Community Bbq
Join us for a celebration of the new mural wrap of the Pigeon Park Savings building with a barbecue from Save On Meats!
We will gather just next door at the DTES Street Market at 62 E Hastings Street on August 8 at noon to unveil a new mural by Haida artist Corey Bulpitt. We acknowledge this location is on the unceded Coast Salish Territory; the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
The mural is a full building wrap of Pigeon Park Savings (92 E Hastings) commissioned by Hastings Crossing Business Improvement Association (HXBIA) and produced in partnership with Create Vancouver Society (Vancouver Mural Festival), BC Housing, Vancity, Pigeon Park Savings, PHS Community Services Society, and the DTES Street Market. The initial vision here was to reflect what an important landmark Pigeon Park Savings continues to be within the neighbourhood. The piece has been designed by respected Haida artist, Corey Bulpitt and will feature pigeons in traditional Haida formline style as a kind of crest for the urban community.
